A wee bit of self-commentary might be appropriate, just to orient those who wander through here unawares.

I'm a graduate student, father of one, moving from the city I've lived in for ten years to the Pacific Northwest, where my spouse got a tenure-track job. I'm currently planning to use this site to offer updates and commentary on ... well, life in general, during this resettling and beyond. I imagine that most of you reading this will have arrived here after I've begged and pleaded with you to pay some attention to my blog. So, thanks.
